Hey folks, I have the same issue, but not the same -- oh, a riddle!
Actually, everything works great from the boot standpoint, but I can't
get it to recognize my 2 4.3 gig SCSI drives.  They are on the compaq
built-in scsi.  The compaq diags see the drives, but not BSDI.  Any hints?
I would be willing to trade for the boot secrets!!
