I had the opposite problem with the 3C589-COMBO (but not PCMCIA) -- freebsd always booted up using the BNC interface, and I wanted UTP. The card, by default, is in some sort of "autoselect" mode. I got things to work by using the "config3c5x9" (or whatever) command from DOS. This lets you change the setting from "auto" to UTP or BNC. -- | | .daniel. |
