That is a valid question.  The trend is away from highly proprietary
equipment and towards cheaper mainstream products that can be sourced from
a wide variety of vendors.

However, the poster (poser?) should provide more detail as to his or her
task.  What KIND of work?  Waht is the user base?  Are they looking to
haul 40 people around, or pallets of soda?  Do they want to go at a
blistering 1000 MPH, or do they want no maintainence problems?  What kind
of budget do they have? Would they be better served by a large or small
clone mfg?  Do they have non-portable code?

Sheesh. Sarcasm isn't funny if the poster doesn't have a good grasp of the
topic.  Teach him, THEN make fun of him.
