I'm running BSDI/386 on a Gateway machine with an ATI local bus
Graphics Ultra Pro. When I exit X (BSDI's version of X386), the
screen doesn't reset properly. I get thin, green vertical bars
across the screen, and a blinking cursor. Everything works fine
at this point -- the cursor moves, and I can type commands, but no
text is displayed. I can restart X okay too. Rebooting the machine
(which presumably resets the video card) does restore text mode.

Has anyone seen this behavior or know how to correct it? Thanks.
