I have been running Netscape 3.01 using the builtin JVM with FreeBSD 2.1R without incendent since Netscape 3.01 came out. I upgraded one 2.1R box to 2.2-ALPHA and the Netscape JVM doesn't work. I made a brand-new 2.2-GAMMA box and it won't work on that either. It all still works fine on my 2.1R boxes. Have you heard of this problem? Do you know that this won't work? Has it been working fine from the core team's perspective? ... some more details... ok, so I place the classes and nls in the right place, set my paths right, enable java in the browser and try to load an applet. Sometimes it loads the HTML and I never see anything; even if I put text in the APPLET tag that would come up if I weren't able to run the applet. Nothing at all, no applet, no message. Sometimes the status bar will say "Applet can't initialize". And, the Java console (from the Options menu) will not open. I choose to open the console, and nothing happens, no error messsage, no popup window, nothing. Could someone drop me an e-mail so that I can work on this *with* someone from whichever FreeBSD team handles these situations. I am more than willing to help in identifying the problem and figure out a solution. But its obvious by now I cannot do it by myself. -- Lehitra'ot! jason .,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,., `Jason Gabler Home Office: 415-752-1969 (M-W,F) ` 'Programmer/Analyst Campus Office: 916-752-9215 (Th) ' `Information Technology - DCAS E-Page: jygabler@dcaspager.ucdavis.edu' 'University of California, Davis http://quadrophenia.ucdavis.edu ` `'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'`'
