The SC200 uses a 53C810 controller chip, which isn't Wide SCSI nor is
it Ultra SCSI, so its not in the same class as an Adaptec 2940UW.

I understand that Asus are working on a card (SC675??) using the 53C875
controller which is Ultra Wide SCSI, and would be in the same class as
the 2940UW. I believe the 53C875 is supported in 2.2 and later versions
of the FreeBSD ncr driver (don't know about 2.1.7).

AFAIK the SCS200 can be used in any PCI system, but does require the NCR
SDMS extension to the motherboard BIOS if booting from a drive on the card
is required. All recent Asus MBs have this, and there are a number of
other MBs with it as well.

I have it running on a 2.1.0 system and have been very happy with its
performance and reliability. This system has uptimes of 90-95days,
although it isn't particularly heavily loaded, and AFAICT the card/driver
aren't the source of the problem that limits its uptime.
