I hate to point this out, since I'm one of the major ones pushing Amancio
to do just this (:->), but...

Amancio is under no obligation to do this.  His code and XFree86 are both
available to anyone.  You (collective you - the community in general) can 
always do it yourselves.  People kept asking for SVR3 shared libraries, and
we kept saying "do it yourself".  Finally someone stepped up and did it
(one of the things coming in the next release).

There's no doubt that Amancio and the other folks he's working with are
the best qualified to get this merge done.  But they're certainly not
the ONLY ones capable of doing it.

I'll get off my soapbox now.
