Anyway, I know 2.1.5R is somewhat old, I'm waiting for 2.2.1R... :-) Mar 13 23:33:22 zorch /kernel: (aic0:4:0): "EXABYTE EXB-8200 263H" type 1 removable SCSI 1 It's living on its own controller (Adaptec 1522A) with nothing else on that bus. The system disk is on an Adaptec 2940. I read a 127MB file off of a tape just fine. When I try to write (just using tar, nothing fancy) it runs for a while and then the system hangs up hard. If I'm in X at the time, the pointer won't move; if I'm at a text console, I can switch vtys but can't actually do anything. I've got termination on the 1522A and the EXB and the cable is known good. I checked the archives at www.freebsd.org and saw some similar problems, but wouldn't you know, the answers are not in the archives... (Consider that a minor gripe about the archives). I've found the firmware on www.exabyte.com, but not having a PROM burner I'm not enthusiastic about trying that...
