Smerdon) Newsgroups: comp.unix.bsd.freebsd.misc Subject: 3.0 SNAP ftp install problem Date: 16 Mar 1997 14:05:09 -0500 Organization: UMCC, Ann Arbor, MI, USA Lines: 16 Message-ID: <5ghg95$6se@montego.umcc.umich.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: montego.umcc.umich.edu Xref: euryale.cc.adfa.oz.au comp.unix.bsd.freebsd.misc:37236 I tried to install 3.0-970209-SNAP using novice selection, defaults for everything, using ppp, ftp, and ftp.freebsd.org but the installation failed. The installation program or the shell didn't give any reasons why. From the messages in the shell I can see that I am connected to ftp.freebsd.org and cd'ing into a directory. The only "error" message that I could find is: "variable - system state was novice, now error-install" I had the same results installing 2.2-gamma at work using the network but figured the router/firewall was preventing the installation. Any ideas? -- John D. Smerdon; Livonia, Michigan, USA; Contents are my opinion. Home: jds@smerdon.livonia.mi.us
