Thank you all who have been involved in the work that lead to 2.2-RELEASE. Linux ELF compatibility is working like awesome! And IBCS2 has improved so much! I installed the SOLID SQL server for Linux without any problems, and it works! Today I gave up on the Oracle 7 Workgroup server for SCO :-(. Please note, that it was due to the braindead installation overhead of Oracle that I did not succeed. Too many shell scripts, too many assumptions about file system layout are made that the installation procedure fails. I did not have enough experience with working Oracle to do a manual installation. However, the binaries worked. No coredumps, no problems. I think that someone who has the 20$ SCO system installed can install Oracle and then take this installation and run it under FreeBSD-2.2. It is definitely worth to try! However, I will not spend time on it for the next time, because a running Oracle server and client apps will not be what I need. I need a development environment. And I can not link against COFF libraries and SCO's AR format. Does anyone know whether it is possible to convert binary formats COFF --> a.out and ELF --> a.out? This would be the absolute asset, if we could import libraries to build native FreeBSD apps with commercial software for Linux, SCO, and maybe someday Solaris/X86! thanks for what we have. -Gunther -- Gunther Schadow------------------Windsteiner Weg 54a, Berlin 14165, FR.
