  I've been trying to SUP the ports distribution but
  I have been getting the following denial:

  SUP 9.26 (4.3 BSD) for file /home/sup/portsSUPFILE at Mar 25
  03:05:01
  SUP: Can't connect to server for supfilesrv: Connection refused
  SUP: Will retry in 119 seconds

  It will try a few more times and then quit.

  Here's the SUP file I'm using:

  ports-all release=current host=SUP.FreeBSD.ORG hostbase=/home
  base=/bob prefix=/bob/ports delete old use-rel-suffix

  Does anyone have any ideas why I can't SUP??

  Thanks
  Dave

Yeah, I did the same. Check out www.freebsd.org and look in the
handbook on the subject cvsup. This protocol has replaced sup as the
one to update freebsd. IMHO, I think it is faster and more flexible
than sup was.
