You'll probably find (at least I did) that the handbook itself (and sometimes, the FAQ) is more helpful. Anyways, you get a whole section of man pages in the back, which I find helpful. A good chunk is devoted to the install process (partitioning, etc)...I had a very painless 2.1.5 install, so never needed to check it. However, the section on kernel config has been *quite* useful, being a novice... It's probably a good buy, even though it's a little dated. I've upgraded to 2.2, and haven't noticed any changes that would make your pacemaker skip.
