Making deep breath, I booted the PC I saw that and I thought it was the PCI future domain card. As you know Future Domain was purchased by Adaptec. Well, Future Domain's flagship ISA scsi card was the 1650/1660, but right before they were purchased they produced a PCI scsi adapter called the 700EX I believe. Adaptec doesen't produce the 1660 anymore (since they produce the AHA1520 which is the competitor of the 1660) but they took the 700EX and renamed it the Adaptec 2920. The original Adaptec PCI scsi card was and is the 2940. I think the support in 2.2 is for the Adaptec 2920, which is the old Future Domain card. (in fact, new 2920's have Future Domain labeled on their ASIC's.) If you have one of the original Future Domain ISA scsi cards, (the 1650 or 1660 cards) your out of luck. Supposedly, Linux has a driver for the card which if you really wanted to you could port over, but it is doubtful that there's going to be much future interest in this. However, you should be able to pick up a used Adaptec 1520 or 1540 card off of Usenet if you need an ISA scsi card. If you do have PCI, and you don't have an AHA2920, or other supported PCI scsi card, I'd suggest getting one of the NCR/Symbosis cards. These are cheap and fast. If the driver for your hard disk controller is not in the generic kernel on the boot floppy, but it does exist, you will need to get one of the core team to build you a special installation kernel and put it on a floppy for you. There were some partial instructions for building one of these around here a while back, but I cannot find them. Ted
