After running FreeBSD 2.2.1-RELEASE I can't reboot without
removing power from the system; if I don't, then during the initial
detection of my SCSI controller, an Adaptec 2940U, there is a complete
freeze. I speak here of the detection that happens right after the
memory check, before any booting process begins.
It's something like "Adaptec SCSI controller SCSI-Select
utility; press ctrl-A for setup", which is normally followed
by the detection of my CDROM and SCSI disk; this is the part that
never happens if I've just rebooted from FreeBSD without shutting
the machine off.
I would appreciate any insights.

Markus
