There were problems with the ps/2 stuff that are fixed in 2.2.
The only think I can suggest is getting the 'setcon' program
from http://www.freebsd.org/~brian/setcon.tgz. It allows you
to switch consoles in the same manner as ALT-F?, but from a
program so you can do it remotely. This "unfreezes" you
console.
