Too bad...my IRIX 6.1 system has been up since the beginning of April (look ma', no reboots). My IRIX 5.3+patches Indigo2 XZ workstation has been up for 40 days...If I remember, I rebooted it uncessarily. Still, our Elans' will be run for six months or more. FreeBSD/NetBSD/Linux are fine operating systems. If a PC-based system running one of these operating systems solves your computer problems, all the better. All else being equal (which it never is), they make great POP, NNTP, DNS, etc servers. Despite donating their time, the developers work very hard on these projects (money may not motivate, but pride does). Fortunately for SGI, some people's computer needs are a bit more advanced. -- Benjamin Z. Goldsteen
