Hi, I don't have a swiss-german keyboard but a german one, so I can't help you directly, just give some hints: I get the same behaviour (xterms work, but "beeps" in syscons) when I have loaded the german.cp850.kbd with kbdcontrol -l . When I load the german.iso.kbd, I can use the keys for the umlaute on the syscons. To get the umlaute displayed correctly, I have to load a cp850-* or cp437-* font. (When I load an iso-font, the umlaute aren't displayed but some weird charcters instead. Does anybody know why iso.kbd and iso*font don't seem to fit together?) But with the german.iso.kbd - keymap loaded, I can't enter umlaute in xterms - the umlaute-keys don't produce anything. :-( So a solution might be to load a *.iso.kbd on boot, but have the startx load a *.cp850.kbd. If someone knows a more elegant solution, I'd be interested, too. Maybe comparing german.iso.kbd and german.cp850.kbd with swissgerman.iso.kbd can give you some hints? Bye, Philipp BTW I'm using 2.1.0 and 2.2-GAMMA - their behaviour with this seems to be identical. -- -------------------------------------------+-------------------------------- P.
