If I'm correct, you don't mount your drive when you want to listen to
an audio CD-ROM. Although I haven't been able to use xmcd or xcdplayer,
I have had success with xcd, where I set my CDPLAY/CDPLAYER env variables
to /dev/rwcd0c.

I just umount the /cdrom drive when I want to listen to an audio CD, put
the audio CD in the drive, run xcd (env already set for correct device),
and I'm off and audio'ing. :-)
