Nope, I've done remote X stuff with it once or twice. Not > fast, but quite usable. Rlogin and telnet on the other hand, are > quite fast. I have run Netscape, Emacs, and Xterms over my 28.8 connection many times, and while it isn't as fast as using it remotely, or using Emacs or vi over rlogin, it is _much_ less frustrating than trying to use anything on my WfW 3.11 machine at work, which *constantly* locks up and require re-boot. > > > >7. Also, after installing NT from a CD-ROM, I removed my CD drive and NT would not boot. I got one of those blue screens with lots of useless information. After re-attaching a CD-ROM, it booted immediately. It was fortunate that I had actually sold the first CD-ROM, which left my attention to installing Linux, which I got right after only a couple of tries. With NT I have had many, many, many faulty attempts at installation. Three nights I spent trying to install, and _finally_ discovered I had the monkey virus. (This was pre-Linux, so I cannot say what it would have done.) If you think there is anything worse than waiting for those three floppies the NT repair/installation requires, only to get something wrong and have to reboot, think again. > > WinNT an 95 aren't at ms's mercy. When is the last time > you recompiled your windoze kernel?:-) Oh, and what about documentation? I must admit, however, that the only time I reboot my system is when I have to run an application for which there is no equivalent for Linux.
