Be careful on the shawdowing options. I spent a couple of months trying to get BSD running on my system at home. It booted the floppy and installed the OS on the hard disk ok. When it got to extracting the bin distribution it worked until I got to the final installation message. It hung requiring a reboot. The problem turned out to be the VGA Shawdow switch on the Motherboard. I had the remaping disabled. When I enabled Shadow memory it worked ok. I have a Micronics 20 Mhz Mother board with 10 Megs of RAM. The way I found the problem was through trial and error. The switch was one of the few things left. Good Luck.
