Hello.

I am trying to set up X on my WinBook XP laptop and I am having some
problems with the display. I can make it work with no problems if I
have an external monitor plugged into the laptop, but I can't make it
come up on the dual-scan in the laptop. I think it should be possible,
because I can run XF86Setup on the dual-scan and everything looks fine.
(If I only knew the settings it was using!) I have tried the standard
VGA (640x480, 31.5 horizontal, 60 vertical) setting but as soon as I get
switched from the XF86Setup screen to X, the display goes haywire
(divides the screen into four horizontal sections with minute, flashing
pixel spasms in abundance). At that point I can only reboot.

So does this sound familiar to anyone? I am using a Western Digital
90C24 video card in the laptop, if that is of any use. The laptop
manual says nothing about horizontal sync or vertical refresh.

Please reply to dave@gnofn.org. Thanks in advance.
