What you have to do is enable Plug and Play bios support; this could be done with that SCSI-select utility that comes up what you press ctrl-A when it's first detected (it you don't have that it'll probably be a jumper). I did this, and it works fine now. The detected takes somewhat longer, though (and results with a message like, "SCSI ID automatically assigned"); *shrug*.
