I used Linux for a long time but got tired of the amount of work needed to keep it current; with FreeBSD that's very easy. FreeBSD's ease partially comes from the fact that indeed there exists only one distribution. The core team that develops and maintains FreeBSD also is responsible for the (one and only) distribution. This ensures a much more consistent system and no differences amongst FreeBSD users. Also, FreeBSD scales better w.r.t. performance. It uses cleverer algorithms and the internals are cleaner. One drawback: Linux sometimes is faster in support for new hardware or trendy things. -- /\_/\ ( o.o ) Peter Mutsaers | Abcoude (Utrecht), | Trust is a good quality ) ^ ( plm@xs4all.nl | the Netherlands | for other people to have
