Use the pmdemand example in /etc/ppp/ppp.conf.sample - if you've got 2.2. If not, look in ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/FreeBSD-current/src/etc The "add 0 0 HISADDR" bit make the default route.
