FreeBSD is also not a US-only OS. Don't confuse Microsoft's OSes as being typical of what we in the US really want. Even the biggest Microsoft advocates that I have dealt with, usually end up seeing how shallow (in depth, flexibility, reliability, and programmability) their OSes are. However, many people work to eat, not for fun. I just don't have to deal with some of life's realities that some person with kids to feed, etc... John
