That is an interesting view that I don't quite understand.  Firstly,
FreeBSD directly or indirectly is affecting positively a significant
number of people's lives, either economically or intellectually.
Secondly, the alternative to FreeBSD (or *BSD) in a lot of
applications isn't free or GPL encumbered software, but it is
commercial software.
