Hi!

For a client of mine, I have to reinstall BSDI 1.1 (yes, 1.1 - for some
technical reasons) on a "bigger" and better box.

It's not a fancy machine, Intel 120MHz, Award BIOS, 1.6GB Western
Digital Hard-drive with a QIC-wide internal SCSI tape drive (don't
know if that works yet :-)).

When I boot it with the boot floppy, everything seems fine - then
with the installation diskette goes fine until I try to do something
with the hard drive.

First, after I ran "setup" and "disksetup -i wd0" and then proceeded to
do newfs, the computer hung (blinking cursor at the bottom left on the
monitor). Upon couple of reboots and retries, it now hangs the moment I
try to run "disksetup -i wd0" - what I deduce is that it somehow
doesn't like the hard drive or its parameters.

I checked the CMOS - it was in LBA mode, I changed it to Normal, but no
success ...

BTW, I can load DOS on the same hard drive without any problem (in LBA mode
it sees all the 1.6GB, and in Normal mode 503MB).

Does anyone have a clue what's going on (I have none :-))? Please, help
me if you can. If you have any questions, or need clarifications,
please feel free to email me.

Thanks,
Murthy Nyayapati
