I have only used SAM briefly, and it left an impression of a nice tool.
I'm using SMIT quite frequently, and it is an "ok" tool. The problem with
both systems is though that trying to make configuration "better"
designers obfuscated it to the point of being impossibe to do without a
special tool. This is why I will take FreeBSD's /etc/sysconfig over any
elaborated commercial tools any time: it is just *simpler*, even although
you need a text editor to change it.
