You might want to check that the addresses and interrupts on the cards
are set up to match what's specified in the installation notes.  Hardware
jumpers perferred, but if the card only has soft config, you might have
to set that up with a dos utility.  Also check i/f selection if there's
a choice of thin-wire/aui/tp, etc.

127.0.0.1 is a local loop that never touches the hardware...

That's just what I seem to recall - no/wrong interrupts and the everything
looks fine, but nothing ever happens.
