Ive had various unix shell accounts over the last 5 years or so finally now its possbile for the average user to buy a unix os and install it. Was decideing on Linux for a while there but for the last 2 months got my feet wet on a BSDI machine, really liked it so went with fbsd. Glad I did! > If you must keep '95 then I suggest u back up your data files etc and do > a complete repartitioning of your HD. This is what I ended up doing to > avoid undue hassles. Been avoiding the install on that machine until I know exaclty what I'm doing on the install. Ive done it 5 times now. 4 from a dos partition. I had a sony cd drive sitting onthe shelf (cdu31a) that I finally swapped out for the crappy mediavision that was there before and finally got to do a proper install off of cd. > > I've got a small (400Mg) Win95 partition , followed by a 500Mg FreeBSD > partition (which remeber must start below the 1024th cylinder (or within > the first 504Mb), followed by an extended DOS partition for the rest of > my Windows crap. > > After doing this you'll realise (like me! :) ) that a 400Mg initial > partition is a bit to big. I'll probably only go 200 megs for 95 then as i dont have much installed on it. Though at this point the 386/dx-33 w/ 8 megs is running fbsd quite nicely. Have not tried X yet though. Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated! Keith
