When I am out of ricochet coverage and have other choices, I use 'ppp modem' to set up a connection with a pcmcia modem. You could also run ppp in the daemon mode, but I typically don't, as the connection won't survive suspend/resume, and I get on the net with an Ethernet card when I am at home. While you're at it, I would recommend putting a cache-only name server on the machine, as doing DNS across ricochet adds more latency to an already latency-pounded situation. -- Nick Sayer <nsayer@quack.kfu.com> | "Live long and prosper."
