386bsd will have no problems with this with the new drivers..
(the old drivers can also handle it but the device for the disk 
would be as6, so you'd have to change the swap and root definitions.)
The hard bit will be convincing the BIOS on the aha1542 that 
it should boot of ID6. (it won't do it)
If you are booting of another disk, you should be able to reach
the drive as sd0 on the new scsi system or as6 on the old one.
