Sounds like the "other side" is trying to negotiate some LCP
options that pppd doesn't like. From rfc 1548:
.....
802b Novell IPX protocol
.....
80fd Compression control protocol
.....
If things work, the other side must be asking for (or agreeing to)
"8021 - IP control protocol" :)
