Hi all!

I'm still running 2.2.0 on my home box,
planning to upgrade the kernel to 2.2.1
this week.

Yesterday I encountered strange problems with
INN 1.5.1 (did I hear someone say "Oh no, ..."? ;-)

It didn't know the newsgroup de.comp.sys.mac, though
I explicitly created it with ctlinnd a few weeks ago,
and "grep mac /usr/local/news/lib/active" gave the
expected result.

After an hour of poking around the system, I loaded the
active file into vi and, bingo, random binary garbage
somewhere in the middle.

Of course, the port of INN sets ACT_STYLE to MMAP.

Now, is this due to the "minor flaws" in the Adaptec
driver, that some people reoprted for 2.2.0R?
Is it safe to use mmap() with 2.2.1?

Thanks,
Patrick
