Watching the four BSD factions go at each other here, I am >mystified how people got that misconception in the first place. No, what is unfair is that people look at the postings of about 4 people on USENET, use that as a basis to judge four entire projects, and then post to USENET about it. This shows both a lack of thought and poor judgment (of course the original thread shows that as well... gee guys, stop bickering and do something useful!). But, if you want to play this game, then go read comp.os.linux.advocacy and you'll see that the so-called "good press" linux users are all too happy to rabidly attack anyone who uses the "wrong" distribution of Linux, members of project GNU, a BSD OS, MAC OS, Solaris, and (god forbid!) Microsoft Windows. Lars Wirzenius wrote an excellent text on "Advocating Linux" (the ideas behind it can also be applied to BSD or whatever). It would be nice if more of us read and followed it.
