I'd recommend setting up 2.2.1-Release on the new disk from scratch

Hmmm... a few weeks ago I got my FreeBSD 2.1.6 CD from Walnut Creek
and somehow I get the impression that I have a very outdated version.
Today I will get an ISDN connection and I wonder whether it is possible
to get my Teles 16.3 card to work with this version of FreeBSD. I've
heard that bisdn version 0.97u also supports PPP over ISDN, which my
ISP uses.

In case I need to upgrade my kernel to 2.2.1, can I just update the
kernel or are many user-land programs dependent on the kernel version?
The reason I ask this is that I don't like downloading the full
FreeBSD 2.2.1 release from the net when I have a CD-ROM subscription.

Thanks in advance for any answers.
