Havn't you got a local ISP ? > Does anybody know a _reliable_ way to terminate a connection (sometimes > telnetting into ppp and issuing a 'close' does not even help). ppp is more stable in 2.2 than it was before. It should *NEVER* "miss" the timeout or fail to accept a "close". The only times I've seen these behaviours is when it's "jammed" - pre 2.2. When it's jammed, you can't telnet to 3000, and the program gobbles up cpu time like there's no tomorrow. I havn't heard of any occurences like this on 2.2.1-RELEASE or after. You can always resort to "kill -9" if you have to run the older version. This should cause loss of DTR and make your modem disconnect. It's a bit harsh, but it's the only thing that'll stop that nasty "spin". > Kurt > -- > Kurt@pinboard.com http://www.pinboard.com/ business > http://www.pinboard.com/kurt/ private -- Brian <brian@awfulhak.org> <brian@freebsd.org> <http://www.awfulhak.org> Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour !
