The STARTX command i= I like xdm because it will restart the server automatically if I want to change the bpp setting, etc. It also keeps my roomate out of my stuff. I think that the default Xsession file calls xsm, which has been know to cause seg faults (don't know why, don't care). If you take this out, you should get something useful when you login under xdm. Let me know if you want/need some sample Xsession and .xsession files Scott
