I read that it according to kind of CD and kind of Sound card. And id is interface number. I think ( but not sure ) that mine is type 0 id 1 I also read in dejanews something about FreeBSD not recognize CD only when it configured as CD no. 0 and CD no. 1. May it be the problem? > matcd0: [CR-5630.75] matcd1: [CR-5630.74] matcd2: [CR-5630.75 matcd3:[CR-5620.75] > > I found it the first time. This is on 2.1.7-RELEASE. As I understand the driver was not changed since 1995, so it does not really matter, but I tried it on 2.2 and 2.2.1. my kernel says 'matcdc0 not found at 0x230' BTW I tried to turn on debug options in /sys/i386/isa/matcd/options.h, byt could not compile kernel with it :{) I really, without any reason, think that it is problem with timeout while probing the CD, becuase, I see lamp goes on, but kernel is not waiting and moves on. I know that in Linux ( don't flame ) it takes about a minute for CD to initialize, that'a why I allways compiled it as a module on demand. Every time I ran xmcd or mount /dev/sbpcd my it took about minute to initialize the CD. How long it takes to your kernel initialize your CDs? Thank again for your help.
