It is well known that the console driver and the PS/2 mouse driver
under 2.1.X have serious conflict problems. *sigh*

I don't know if this works for you, but worth a try.  Edit the
"keyrate=" line in /etc/sysconfig so that it looks:

keyrate=fast

This will run "kbdcontrol -r fast" at the end of the rc scripts during
system boot process. This command changes key repeat rate and may
recover your keyboard as a side effect. (You may specify "slow" or
"normal" if you like. Consult the man page of kbdcontrol for details.)
