Hello, and thank you to two or three fellow
users who helped me figure out what the deal
was.  Replacing HISADDR in ppp.conf did
make the -auto option work, and a couple
of other suggestions were really helpful, too.

After the changes, I found I could contact myself,
but not from my own computer directly.  Ie, to
telnet in, I have to come from somewhere else.
But at least that means others can reach me.
