I have been able to start X-Windows on my Canon InnovaBook 490CDT (running FreeBSD-2.2.1 and XFree86 3.2 with the CL7548). It seems to run OK, but I am unable to move the virtual screen to the left to cover a large black rectangular portion of my Active Matrix display. (It is justified to the right edge of the screen, however). Also, when I quit from the X-Server, the Active Matrix display turns white and makes viewing of the console impossible, forcing a reboot. So far everything restarts OK, but in continued use, can my display be damaged? Is this what is meant by support for these chips is broken? Thank You, J.
