Anyone can help my problem on modem access?

When I use minicom to dial to a machine, after the message "CONNECT
31200" appear, lots of garbage shown on the screen

"......u..a..aaa..uu......"

The same modem work fine on Windows 95 or Linux. The line is 57600,
8N1 and the modem is USR Vi Spotster.

Any suggestion?
