If you want to use ppp (BSDI has ppp doesn't it?), go to

    http://www.awfulhak.org/ppp.html

There's links to the -current config files for FreeBSD there.
Look for the direct-server and direct-client config entries
in ppp.conf.sample.

You may want to also pick up the latest version of ppp
from http://www.freebsd.org/~brian/. I'm not sure that
it builds on BSDI, but I *think* it should.
