It can do any mode (just like XFree : can), e.g. 100x40 or whatever, at any refresh frequency (like 120HZ) : that your monitor and videoboard support. It can put your screen in : highres text mode (such as 1024x768 pixels) to display nice looking : modes with a large number of rows&columns. Again...is any FreeBSD hacker working on svgatext? : vidcontrol just lets you choose some fixed modes, not any custom modes : you might like (and that look good). Please correct me if I'm wrong. I : especially like 100 columns and 40 lines. If I can do that with : vidcontrol I'd really like to hear it. I love 100x40's look myself...had it with FANSI-CONSOLE on my first 486, but my later DOS 486 had a different video card(Stealth 64 DRAM vs SpeedStar Plus) that wouldn't support 100x40. Haven't tried for it in UNIX and don't have the big monitor it would be good on on a unix box.
