Open Sound System v3.8b (RELEASE) for FreeBSD 2.2. 

OSS/FreeBSD provides device drivers for over 150 brand name sound cards
and supports PnP sound cards as well. OSS provides support for:

o Digital Audio recording and Playback
o MIDI Music playback via FM or wave-table synthesis
o MIDI input and output
o Audio Mixing
o Full Duplex audio on certain soundcards
o Support for Java audio
o SoftOSS - software based wavetable synthesis (GUS HW emulation)

OSS is a cross-UNIX audio architecture which runs on 10 different flavors
or UNIX and UNIX-like OSs. OSS is compatible with the older VoxWare API
