Dear readers,

Recently I bought a Philips 107A (Brilliance) monitor to go with my XFree86
3.2
installation running on FreeBSD-2.2. I soon had to find out that this
monitor's
settings can be altered only from the host computer - which must be running
either Windows 95 or MacOS. The monitor has no front panel configuration
buttons,
everything is set using EDID/DDC.

Since I have neither of the aforementioned OSs, I am currently pretty much
stuck
with the default settings of the monitor, which are less than adequate. I
would
therefore appreciate it very much if anyone could help me with my problem
of
correctly setting the monitor's adjustments. Philips themselves have been
rather
unwilling to help, even though I am an employee of this company.

I am nearly convinced by now that the only way for me would be to get a
copy of
the EDID/DDC standards, and write an X Server extension for it.
Unfortunately,
the VESA consortium seems to have a hold on these documents, as I don't
seem to
be able to find any relevant information on the net.

Enough said - thanks in advance for any help!

Martin

P.S. I know it's against netiquette, but could you please direct any
replies
to my mailing address as well - it is difficult for me to read news
regularly.
