There is a driver available for the Compaq RAID controllers (the name of which escapes me at the moment). I've run FreeBSD on a Compaq Prosignia (no RAID though); it was a bitch to install (but that should be fixed now), but has run very stable since. Search the mailing list archives for info on this; the driver was written by somebody at an educational institution in the UK (Imperial College?). (If you're reading this, I'm sorry for not getting back to you - I was gone for a long time, and I'm dropping out on the Compaq's due to switching jobs, so the project is not of interest any longer :-( Eivind.
