Arrrgh! Argc, and Argv! How can I reinstall 2.2.2 from scratch when I only have 2.2.1 on CD? > /usr/src is definitely something you're recommended to either > upgrade with CVS (which will preserve your local changes I'm wandering among the source trees and can't see the forest. Please point me in the right direction! I installed 2.2.1 from CDROM, then CVSup'd RELENG_2_2_2_RELEASE. It grabbed some stuff from the server, then I rebuilt the kernel and it compiled OK. Did I do the right thing? Where am I? Can I now clear /etc and replace it with /usr/src/etc to finish my "upgrade"? How can I get a list of valid release tags? Just to experiment, I tried an invalid tag of RELENG_2_2_3_RELEASE just to see what would happen (using a test directory, BTW). After trying to delete a whole bunch of stuff it quit and that appears to be all it did. Why does the online handbook still (May 23, 1997) talk about 2.1.7 being the stable release, isn't 2.2.2 a stable release? John
