The part number for the drive looks like a Barracuda. I had a fan go bad in the enclosure for a Barracuda. It still didn't work in open air in a room cooled to about 60 F. The disk gets hot pretty fast and it eventually malfunctions due to overheating. When it does, the disk starts yanking the signals on the SCSI bus at random times. I was unable to read from my SCSI CDROM when the Barracuda overheated. >I am going to get a fan to blow some air between the drives to see if this >will solve the problem. According to the little booklet that comes with the drives, you need something like 50 cubic feet per minute of airflow directly across the drive.
